BRATTLEBORO — Jade Twombly worked out of trouble several times but none more important then in the seventh. The Colonels had the tying run on third and the winning run on second but Twombly left them there striking out the last two batters. Brattleboro stranded 11 runners in the game mostly due Twombly’s 12 strikeouts in critical situations.
Hannah Wilson took the loss for the 6-7 Colonels and Maddy Derosia was 4 for 4.
Brooke Willey, Chelsea McAllister. and Cassidy Otis keyed the Cosmo offense, but it was Twombly’s sacrifice fly that actually knocked in the gamne-winner. Springfield brings its 8-2 record to Rutland on Wednesday.
