MSJ rolls past Springfield
BOYS BASEBALL
MSJ 12, Springfield 1 (5 innings)
Josh Wasilewski was dealing on the mound for the Mounties.
The flamethrower collected 11 strikeouts in the winning effort. He allowed just three hits and one walk to Springfield, which got its lone run in the first inning.
“His control was great,” MSJ coach Jacob Downy said. “He was setting up his fastball with his curve. It’s a huge blessing when you have somebody that can throw hard like he can, especially in Division IV.”
The MSJ offense backed the strong outting by smacking 11 hits against Springfield starter Kyle Weeks. Weeks lasted three innings and gave up eight runs. He struck out two.
Shane Protivanski had a productive day in the leadoff spot with two hits, a RBI and two runs scored. Eric DeBlasio was 1 for 1 with three walks and three runs scored, while Jonah Farrow stroked two doubles, drove in three runs and scored two.
Kyle White dove in Springfield’s only run in the first with a double.
The Mounties improve to 9-3 and host Proctor on Thursday.
