Morvan is the UVM Green & Gold Scholarship winner for the class of 2016. Ian, of Springfield, is the son of Valerie Morvan of Springfield and Ray Morvan of Northfield, VT. "The University of Vermont Green & Gold Scholarship is an academic merit scholarship awarded to the academically strongest rising high school senior from every Vermont public secondary school. The scholarship fund was established through a gift made by the family of the late Genevieve Patrick," according to the university's website. The Green and Gold Scholarship provides four years of tuition-free education, provided the student maintains a designated grade point average. SHS Principal Bob Thibault described Morvan as, "an excellent student, tenacious athlete and more importantly, a superb role model for his peer. He will surely make the whole Springfield community proud!"
