Published January 14, 2016 in the Rutland Herald GIRLS BASKETBALL Otter Valley 48, Springfield 40 (OT) BRANDON — Otter Valley trailed the Cosmos 22-15 after the opening half and 32-23 heading into the fourth quarter. The deficit, thought, went away when Amy Jones worked in the low post and let loose an offering the kissed the backboard and fell to tie things at 38, setting up overtime. “We created some turnovers and turned those into scores,” Otter Valley coach Steven Keith said. “We stayed out on their shooters.” In the extra frame, foul trouble and injuries hurt the Cosmos, who finished with just four players on the court. Jones led the scoring for OV with 21 points, while Sophia Bloomer chipped in with 10 and Gabby Poalino added nine. All three were instrumental in the rally, according to Keith. Diamond Bruso led Springfield with nine points and Brooke Wiley tossed in seven. Otter Valley improves to 5-4 and hosts Hartford on Friday. “Hartford is physical and has solid post play,” Keith said. “They play everybody tough.” http://www.vermonttoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/RH/20160114/SPORTS02/160119713
