NORTH CLARENDON — The Minutemen pulled away against a 5-14 Cosmos team that gave them a hard time in Springfield.
It was a 13-point Mill River decision in Springfield and it looked like a similar struggle was in the offing when the Cosmos were within 23-18 at halftime.
But Rylee Nichols led the way with 10 of her 14 points in the second half and the Minutemen improved to 15-4.
“Our energy and intensity were much better this time,” said Mill River coach Ken Webb.
Rylee Perron added 13 points, Jessica Audy 11 and Olivia McPhee 10 for the Minutemen while Brooke Willey’s eight points led Springfield.
Mill River closes its regular season at Hartford on Saturday, looking to avenge an earlier loss and lock down the No. 2 seed for the Division II tournament.
