COURTESY Members of Vermont's Let's Grow Kids Exhibit at the 22nd Annual Family Festival. COURTESY Springfield Area Parent Child Center is pleased to present its 23rd Annual Family Festival at Riverside School on April 16, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Our Family Festival is held in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and their Week of the Young Child Celebration. The theme for this annual event is a celebration of early learning, young children, their teachers and their families. This event has become something of a spring tradition for families in and around the Springfield area, and we’ll be bringing back lots of familiar activities and exhibitors as well as some exciting new ones. We will once again be conducting the Scholastic Book Sale during the festival, featuring “Buy One, Get One Free” books for preschoolers as well as grade school reading levels. Also back by popular demand will be the Springfield Police Department issuing free identifications for all children accompanied by their parents. Entertainment will be provided in two sessions by returning favorite “Lindsay & her Puppet Pals” and we will have lots of local exhibitors sharing information and providing activities regarding early learning for children and their families. Roving characters Elsa and Olaf will be returning this year, bringing Anna along as well, for impromptu photo ops throughout the morning. The kids really love this, as do parents and grandparents, too. SAPCC will also be hosting a photo booth as a new attraction this year, with digital fun photos captured at the fair available for download later to add to the photo fun. Be sure to save the date and come and visit us next month! SAPCC has long been a community resource for children and families, providing free information and referrals, home visits, parent education and more in North Windham and South Windsor counties. Our mission statement is Strong Communities, One Family at a Time. This annual Family Festival is just one of the many community collaborations focused on providing information, support and outreach to the youngest members of our community and their families.
