Alex Richardson wins 2nd straight state championship
BENNINGTON, Vt. — Springfield junior Alex Richardson captured first-place honors at the VT State USBC Youth Scholarship Handicap Singles bowling tournament at Bennington Lanes Saturday.
Competing in the U20 division, Richardson rolled a 561 series with high game of 238. He received a $400 scholarship for his efforts. This is the second consecutive year Richardson has won the event, having received a $500 scholarship in 2015.
The event was open to all youth league members certified in a USBC league in Vermont and consisted of five age groups.
Richardson is a member of the Springfield High School varsity bowling team and has been participating in the Springfield Youth League since he was eight years old.
Seven members of the Springfield Youth League participated in the tournament this year in various age groups.
