BASEBALL Fair Haven 9, Springfield 3
FAIR HAVEN — Bam! Pow! Sock! went Springfield’s three-run inning for a 3-0 lead.
But it was silence the rest of the way as Sam Eaton settled down and pitched the Slaters to their fourth win in five games.
Eaton allowed three hits, including an RBI double by Levi Perham and a two-run single by Nick Bedi, but he was in command the rest of the way and Fair Haven bats had good success against losing pitcher Kevin Weeks.
Austin Brannock had three hits (including a double) and two RBI, Parker Morse two hits and two RBI, Owen Dougherty a double and two RBI, and freshman pinch runner Eric Szabo stole three bases and scored three times.
Fair Haven, 4-7, is just a bounce or two away from a 6-5 record, with hiccups against Windsor and Mill River.
The Slaters will try to right one of those wrongs Saturday at Windsor.
Springfield fell to 4-8.
