Ditto for Springfield speedster Kyle Davis, whose Limited Sportsman victory lap Friday was his first since 2010. Aaron Fellows topped the Super Street main event for the second week in a row, reclaiming the seesawing points lead, as Ricky Bly had to settle for a seventh-place finish after being bounced around mid-race. Mike Parker, from White River Junction, Vermont, topped the 30-car North East Mini Stock Tour 50-lapper. Bodreau took charge on a lap-30 restart in the Modified feature and then left the field far behind. The second-generation pilot battled Dana Smith for much of the race before taking control and then darting off to victory. Scott MacMichael, from row-three, moved up to claim the deuce spot just ahead of Smith. Nick Boivin and Dwight Jarvis completed the top five, while points leader Joey Jarvis got caught up in someone else’s mess on lap 30 and finished 11th on the night. Bodreau and Jeff Murray were earlier heat race winners. Mark McClay and Mark Blair led the 18-car Super Street field to the green, with McClay seizing the lap-one lead, with Dylan Bodreau and Allen Fellows quickly following him to the front. Ricky Bly, from row four, was quickly on the charge, taking second from Fellows on lap eight and then immediately setting his sights on McClay. The pair raced closely the next 11 trips around the third-mile speedplant until a lap-19 brushup saw them both twirl along the frontstretch, moving Ben Poland and Aaron Fellows to the front row for the ensuing restart. Poland’s run at the front was brief, though, as Fellows took command, then racing wheel-to-wheel with his father, Allen, for several laps before 2015 track champ Jack McClay grabbed the deuce spot on lap 23. Once in front, the younger Fellows never looked back, reclaiming the Super Street points lead from Ricky Bly by capturing his fourth win of the summer. Jack McClay and Allen Fellows were second and third, Dylan Bodreau fourth, and Craig Smith fifth. Kyle Davis became the seventh different Limit Sportsman feature winner this summer, leading early and often in Friday night’s 25-lap feature to earn his first victory lap in more than five seasons. Cote Swenson and Chris Gilbert led the field to the green, with Davis, from row two, quickly on the charge, dropping Swenson to second on lap two and then never looking back. It was hardly an easy victory, though, as points leader Scott Vien was glued to his bumper the last 18 trips around the oval. Mike Burke moved up to take third from Gary Colburn but, on this night, Davis ran a perfect line to take the checkers with Vien still riding in his shadow but padding his slim points lead with the runner-up finish. Burke, Colburn and Tyler Janovsky completed the top five, while Kenny Thompson and Chris Gilbert won the earlier qualifying races. Cody Leblanc, of Gorham, and Julia Raymond, of Winchester, led the 30-car North East Mini Stock Tour field, including a sprinkling of five speedway Wild Cat competitors, to the green at the start of the visiting tour’s 50-lap feature. Leblanc got the early jump, then giving way to Raymond. Firing from row six, Bay State pilot Jarrod Soucy came quickly to the front, taking first from Raymond on lap 16 and then quickly leaving the rest of field far behind. A pair of mid-race cautions brought Mike Parker, of White River Junction, to Soucy’s side, with Emerson Cayer soon powering into second. In the hunt all night, Raymond never wavered, taking the checkers in second, just behind Parker. Heywood Herriott, of Gorham, New Hampshire, came home third. Kodi Sabins, who checkered 16th, was the first Wild Cat under the sticks. This Friday, August 5, the Twin State Valley’s Center of Speed will host the Granite State Pro Stocks, visiting the third-mile speedplant for 100-laps of ground-pounding excitement. The Super Streets, Limited Sportsmen and Wild Cats will also be in action. Post time is 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.claremontspeedway.net. — Submitted by Gary Dutton
