Windsor’s strong defense gave up few yards to Springfield’s go-to back, junior Matt LaChapelle, and junior quarterback Kyle Monier. The Yellow Jacket front seven demonstrated that their team attacks the ball carrier ferociously. Junior Dakota Page and senior Zachary Mcleod each picked off Springfield’s Monier, junior Hunter Patenaude scored off an interception, and junior Ben Meagher recovered a fumble in the end zone to score. After a three-and-out opening drive by Springfield, Windsor senior Hunter Patenaude returned a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown. The Yellow Jackets' team approach to offense proved to be strong again. Windsor’s gun slinging quarterback, junior menuSmartClickConnectsearchclose Seth Balch Seth Balch, connected with junior Dakota Page on a 35-yard touchdown pass while the ground attack added scores from junior Trevor Worrall, senior Hunter Judd, and freshman Ryan Ducharme. Windsor head coach Greg Balch said, “It was a good game. It was a physical game. That was probably the most physical game we’ve had, so that was good for us, and I think that it will help us the rest of the way.” The Jacks' offense showed that their only enemy is themselves. There were several examples of the need to improve self-discipline in the first half. Coach Balch said, “We had several penalties there in the first half. I think we had a couple holding calls and a false start. Several things we talked about at half time. I don’t know what to attribute that to. I think we haven’t been penalized up to this point, and I think they corrected it after the first quarter. Not happy with it, but it seemed to be correct.” Springfield’s lone score came after a long drive against Windsor’s reserves. Quarterback Monier connected with junior Mason Olney on a short pass into the end zone. The Yellow Jackets' future certainly looks bright, knowing that their reserves held tight against the Springfield starters. Both teams return to action next Saturday at 1 p.m. with Windsor returning home against Otter Valley Union High School while Springfield travels to Missisquoi Valley Union High School.
I know it says keep your comments polite but come on Cosmos really??!!!??
ReplyDeleteCoach, the players need to play with heart, learn to block and not tackle with just their hands. They need to be pumped up and need to want to make plays.
I saw it so many times last night where the line just stood up and got plowed over. They were all exhausted by the 2nd quarter. I saw one interception when the kid ran through the entire Cosmos team and the QB gave up when he had about 15 yards to catch him.
There are a few bright spots on the team. #64 was intense and was trying to get the rest of the boys pumped on defense. He had a few good hits and some nice tackles. #46? (the really tall kid) did well when he wasn't getting triple teamed.
You have potential on that team coach, you just need to find the on switch. Good luck!
