CHARLESTOWN — The bridge over the Connecticut River between Charlestown and Springfield, Vt., will be closed to traffic for five days starting Monday, Oct. 24, and is expected to reopen Friday, Oct. 28, the N.H. Department of Transportation announced.
Route 11 will be closed to all traffic during that time to complete rehabilitation work to the bridge deck. The duration of the closure is weather-dependent, the department said in a news release.

Detour signs to an alternate route to cross the Connecticut River will be in place on Interstate 91 and Routes 5, 103, 11 and 131 in Vermont, and Routes 12, 12A, 11, and 103 in New Hampshire.
Before the bridge closes, motorists can expect one-way alternating traffic and a lane restriction of 8 feet as preparation work continues.
Miller Construction of Windsor, Vt., is the contractor for the $695,000 project.
