By Heather Hall, Executive Director
The Springfield Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone from the community, including towns outside of Springfield, are welcome to join our center for any of the activities that are offered if you are 50 years or older. There are no annual membership fees — all activities (with the exception of our ceramics class) are free. We hope to be able to provide a center where there is a little something for everyone to enjoy. We are also a center that strives to offer more programs of interest to people. If you have an idea of something that could be of interest, please speak with us about it.
On Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m., we will be having our Halloween Party! Come join us for a great afternoon of fun, entertainment and snacks. Back by popular demand, we will be hosting Steve Waldo, member of the Vermont Paranormal Investigators. Steve will be sharing stories and photo from his investigations and speak about what it’s like to investigate paranormal activities in Vermont.
We will also be holding a costume contest again this year. The costume contest judging will take place at 1:20 p.m., before Steve takes the stage. Come dressed in a costume and have the chance to win an awesome prize.
We are looking for donations of ghoulish goodies for our Halloween Party. If you would like to bring a treat to share, please sign up on the sheet in the senior center.
Coming Up:
On Saturday, Nov. 19, we will be hosting our Annual Christmas Bazaar and Cookie Walk at the senior center. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At this point in time, we are looking for people to sign up to donate cookies for the cookie walk, baked goods and food items for both the Luncheon Table and Food Table. If you would like to donate cookies, baked goods or food items for the event, please stop in and sign up at the senior center. If you have any questions about specifics when it comes to the food item, you can speak with the following people: Linda Wilson, Mary Gray and Pat Bushway — Cookie Walk Chairs, Linda Wheeler — Food Table Chairperson or Linda Haines — Luncheon Chair.
If you are interested in having a booth at the Christmas Bazaar, please speak with Heather at the Center to see about obtaining table space. All homemade crafts can be sold at the bazaar; this will not be an event with yard sale items for sale.
We hope to have a lot of people at our bazaar event as it is the largest fundraising event of the year for us. Please start spreading the word throughout the community and with you friends and family.
If you have any questions on the information presented above, please reach out to Executive Director Heather Hall at (802) 885-3933 or email her at heatherhallssc@gmail.com.
