2016-12-22 / Arts & Entertainment SAPA TV shows 24 hours of 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' SPRINGFIELD — SAPA TV, Springfield's public access TV station, will once again be showing 24 hours of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" for Christmas. Airing on Channel 8 (Comcast) and Channel 1160 (VTel), "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" will begin at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and run until 8 p.m. Christmas Day. "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" is the story of how Santa Claus brings the spirit of giving and togetherness to the people of Mars after they kidnap him. The movie, which is generally ranked among the worst ever made, is suitable for children of all ages and is in color. This year, SAPA TV has acquired a slightly better copy of the film than the one that ran in 2015, although potential viewers should be aware that this does nothing for the quality of the plot or acting. The regular Sunday church services will run at the usual times on Comcast Channel 10 (VTel Channel 1161), and will be accompanied by more conventional Christmas programming.
