Springfield match Hosting the match at Up Your Alley, the Cosmos thought they had lost to Brattleboro after opening in the 10th frame of the final game of the Baker final. To their delight, the Colonels' final frame ended with an open as well, securing Springfield's 117-116 win and the match victory. Needing just eight pins to win, the Brattleboro anchor would collect six n his first ball, leaving a group of three pins to the left and the 10-pin standing. His second ball found the gap in between, giving the Cosmos a Baker round victory for the second straight week. Springfield rode strikes by Issiah Albanese in the second and Richardson in the fifth to a 64-61 lead midway through the final game, but the Colonels rallied with a handful of spares to take a late lead. Spares by Matt Power in the eighth and Haley St. Louis in the ninth pulled the home team within one, 110-109, heading into the 10th. “That's the second time in two weeks where Brattleboro almost beat us,” Springfield coach Mike Mullins said. “We've got to work on our spares, get better, that's for sure. “They had some good games. They had some good games in individuals, some struggles in individuals, but definitely have to work on the confidence in our Baker match The Cosmos won the first game of the best-of-three final 127-121, erasing a 20-pin deficit. Both teams struggled to find their spots in game two and Brattleboro squeaked out a 107-104 win without registering a single strike. Brattleboro defeated Hartford 119-111 and 144-97 in the Baker semifinals. Springfield drew the top seed in qualifying, rolling a 1571 two-game total. St. Louis led the way with a 192-199. Matt Power has 155-191, Richardson 190-138, Cierra Howe 113-157 and Meghan Power 101-135. Jackson (87-117) and Albanese (144-154) didn't count in the individual scoring, but the Cosmos would rotate all seven bowlers in the Baker finals. Hartford scored 1238 in qualifying, led by Joey Raymond's 193-164 effort. Jacob Williams' 127-163 led Brattleboro to an 1162. Springfield heads to Brattleboro Saturday.
