2017-02-07 / Local Scholarships available for Vermont women in need The General Federation of Women's Clubs of Vermont announces the availability of scholarships for Vermont women who have lost their main source of income due to separation, divorce, death or long-term unemployment or disability of their partner. Eligible women are in need of training or education to enter or to continue in the workforce. Applicants must submit a specific plan for their education or training. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500. This is the 23rd year of awarding this financial aid, which is funded through contributions from the state federated clubs and from individuals. Women receiving the awards over the years have come from a wide range of towns in the state. Applications are also available in the financial aid office of CCV in Springfield and Brattleboro, the River Valley Community College in Claremont, as well as the office of SEVCA, Parks Place in Bellows Falls, and the Rockingham Free Public Library. Completed applications are due to Betty Haggerty by March 15. Interviews will be conducted. Awards will be made at the federation's annual meeting May 6.
