The staff at SAH hopes to be open for appointments within the next few weeks at the new location, according to veterinarian Dr. Brad Temple. Temple was at the facility at 346 River St. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, working on interior repairs. The business is owned by Temple and Dr. Dena Meehan. Repairs inside the animal hospital will likely take several months, he said. The temporary location will likely be near the current facility while repairs continue. Temple said on Tuesday that he cannot confirm the address yet due to negotiations on the lease, but that the place they are looking at is on River Street. As soon as the final details are worked out, SAH will announce the place and dates for animal hospital open hours, he said. “We are continuing to offer house calls for vaccinations and minor visits. Until we are a little further along, sick patients are best served by going to one of the local hospitals that have offered to see our patients. Give us a call and we can help steer you in the right direction,” SAH staff wrote in a public Facebook update on Tuesday. Temple said that staff are not available at the hospital to take samples right now, but that clients can call ahead to arrange for pickup or dropoff. The staff is also starting to get medications and food in, and are refilling prescriptions, he said. However, Temple said it is best to call or email about 2-3 days ahead for medicine orders, and that they will do their best to get the order in. “We are ordering it as it gets requested,” he said. The hospital is also holding daily pickup hours for foods and medicines, by appointment, from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the animal hospital’s current location at 346 River St. Clients should call ahead before going to pick any items up, he said. The staff also expressed appreciation for “to everyone for being patient while we get back on our feet.” To contact the staff at SAH or arrange to pick up medicines and food, call (802) 885-2505 or send an email to info@springfieldanimal.com.
