2017-03-04 / Community Springfield Senior Center news By Heather Hall, Executive Director On Monday, March 6, we will be opening the Trip Sign Up for the Ogunquit, Maine Day Trip. Join the Springfield Senior Center on Thursday, May 18 as they travel to the Ogunquit Playhouse to see the Broadway hit, "Mamma Mia." Lunch will be enjoyed at Mike’s Clam Shack and there will be a stop at When Pigs Fly. Pricing for the trip is as follows: Active Members — $143 per person and Non-Active Members — $155 per person. Active Members can sign-up at 9 a.m. and Non-Active Members can sign-up at 10:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to join us on the trip as well if they are 21 years or older. On Tuesday, March 7, the VNH will be here for our foot clinic. Appointments are necessary and cost $20 each. Please call the senior center today to set up an appointment — the slots fill fast. On Wednesday, March 8, at 1 p.m, the Springfield Senior Center will be offering a refresher course for CPR. This is not a class where people will leave with a CPR certification; it is a time to learn the basics and ask any questions you may have. On Friday, March 10, at 12:30 p.m., we will be hosting a Game Day! Join us for some fun in playing whatever games may be of interest to you. AARP Tax Appointments are still being held at the senior center. There are very few appointments left for this tax season so please call today if you would like to set something up. Appointments are necessary for the taxes, we do not accept walk-ins. Please check out the senior center’s new website — www.springfieldseniorcenter.com. There, you will find lots of information about the senior center, including all the events and activities that we offer throughout the year. The Springfield Senior Center will be hosting two trips to Mohegan Sun Casino this year. The first trip will be taking place Thursday, April 27. We need to have at least 40 people for the trip to take place. If you would like to join us on the trip, please let Heather know at the senior center by March 10. Once we have the 40 people, we will release the price; the more people that sign-up for the trip, the cheaper it will be. Looking Ahead: The Springfield Senior Songsters will be performing on Wednesday, March 15, at 1 p.m. at the senior center. Join us as we are entertained by their wonderful voices. Light refreshments will be served after the performance; we are looking for people to bring in refreshments to share. Please see the sign-up sheet at the senior center to sign up to bring something. If you would like to join the email mailing list for the Monthly Springfield Senior Center, please let Heather know your email address. If you have any questions about anything above, please reach out to Executive Director Heather Hall, at either (802) 885-3933 or heatherhallssc@gmail.com.
