(Courtesy) SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — 56 Main Street Restaurant in Springfield will host the 4th annual “Pasta for Parkinson’s” event, a fundraiser, from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 9. A donation of $10 per ticket is requested, and 100 percent of all funds raised will go toward finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Dinner consists of Caesar salad, garlic breadsticks, pasta with marinara, a choice of meatball or Italian sausage and dessert. The event honors Doreen Erasmus, the sister of 56 Main Street’s owner, Robin Szawerda. Their family participates every year in the annual Unity Walk that takes place in New York City’s Central Park. Their team, Deen’s Day Trippers, raised more than $20,000 last year, all of which went to research. The walk is an uplifting and inspiring event that supports the more than one million people in the U.S. who are living with Parkinson’s disease. The cause of Parkinson’s disease is unknown and while treatment options help to manage symptoms, currently there is no cure. Every donation brings the Parkinson's community one step closer to finding that cure. They are hoping that local businesses will contribute this year by purchasing tickets for their employees or making a cash contribution. Their donations will definitely add to the success of the 4th Annual “Pasta for Parkinson’s” fundraiser. Tickets are now available for “Pasta for Parkinson’s” and can be purchased at 56 Main Street Restaurant prior to and on the day of the event. Informational materials, CDs and other literature will be available to take home the day of the event. If you’d like more information, call 56 Main Street at (802) 885-6987 or Robin at (802)886.1952.
