2017-05-06 / Community Springfield Senior Center news By Heather Hall, Executive Director Join the Springfield Senior Center over the next two months in helping to raise money for different events and activities that take place throughout the year. During the month of May and June, the Springfield Senior Center will be selling raffle tickets for a fundraising event that will be taking place during the entire month of June. Each day of June, we will be raffling off a different item, items which are coming from a variety of local businesses. Each raffle ticket will be $10 each and all money raised will go toward the senior center. Everyone can buy as many tickets as you would like so that you can increase your opportunity of winning. Some items that we will be raffling are as follows: gift certificates, gift baskets, Roadrunner day trip tickets and so much more. A full list and calendar of what will be raffled on each day will be available soon. On Monday, May 8, come into the Springfield Senior Center to sign up for the trip that will be taking place on Thursday, July 20 down to Essex, Connecticut for the steam train and river boat excursion. Come cruise with the Roadrunners as we travel the ONLY steam train and riverboat ride in the U.S. We will enjoy lunch aboard the steam train in a 1920s era air-conditioned Pullman luxury cart and sail down the Connecticut River on a Mississippi-style Riverboat. This is a one-of-a kind trip that will be wonderful. Active members have first opportunity at signing up for the trip at 9 a.m. and Non-Active Members can sign up starting at 10 a.m.. Price of Trip: ACTIVE MEMBERS: $120 per person and NON-ACTIVE MEMBERS: $132 per person. The Springfield Senior Center currently has two other trips available for people to sign up for. Get ready to laugh yourself silly with the Springfield Roadrunners as we travel down to the HukeLau in Chicopee, Massachusetts on Tuesday, Aug. 15 to enjoy The Bobby Darling Show and a TWIN LOBSTER MEAL (prime rib for us Land Lubbers). This show is a wonderful mix of music and comedy. ACTIVE MEMBERS: $89.95. per person and NON-ACTIVE MEMBERS: $101.95 per person. The second trip available is an overnight trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country: "Pennsylvania Dutch Country’s: The Miracle of Christmas & Much More." Join the Springfield Senior Center as we travel to Pennsylvania for three days and two nights during the early holiday season for a trip we won’t soon forget. With tickets to see two amazing shows and stops at Hershey’s Chocolate World, “The Sweetest Spot on Earth” and the National Christmas Museum, this is sure to be an amazing trip. Dates: Dec. 5 to Dec. 7, Active Member Price: $485 per person double occupancy, Non-Active Member Price: $499 per person double occupancy. Deposit amount due upon registration: $50 per person.
