2017-05-20 / Community Springfield Senior Center news By Heather Hall, Executive Director Join the Springfield Senior Center over the next two months in helping to raise money for different events and activities that take place throughout the year. During the month of May and June, the Springfield Senior Center will be selling raffle tickets for a fundraising event that will be taking place during the entire month of June. Each day of June, we will be raffling off a different item, items which are coming from a variety of local businesses. Each raffle ticket will be $10 each and all money raised will go toward the senior center. Everyone can buy as many tickets as you would like so that you can increase your opportunity of winning. On Monday, May 22, starting at 9 a.m., you can sign up for the Maine Overnight: Join the Springfield Senior Center as they travel to Maine for a two day-one night trip filled with lots of fun, exciting things to see and do. From a lighthouse cruise to a guided tour of Kennebunkport, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. A visit to the Strawberry Banke Museum is to be expected, as well as some free time to explore Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Dates of the trip are Oct. 18 and Oct. 19. The Active Member Price is $327 per person double occupancy and the Non-Active Member Price is $339 per person double occupancy. The deposit amount is $100 per person. The Springfield Senior Center currently has two other trips available to sign up for. The first trip is to see The Bobby Darling Show. Get ready to laugh yourself silly with the Springfield Roadrunners as we travel down to the HukeLau in Chicopee, Massachusetts on Tuesday, Aug. 15, to enjoy The Bobby Darling Show and a TWIN LOBSTER MEAL (prime rib for us Land Lubbers). This show is a wonderful mix of music and comedy. ACTIVE MEMBERS: $89.95 per person. NON-ACTIVE MEMBERS: $101.95 per person. The second trip available is an overnight trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Pennsylvania Dutch Country’s: The Miracle of Christmas & Much More: Join the Springfield Senior Center as we travel to Pennsylvania for three days and two nights during the early holiday season for a trip we won’t soon forget. With tickets to see two amazing shows and stops at Hershey’s Chocolate World, “The Sweetest Spot on Earth,” and the National Christmas Museum, this is sure to be an amazing trip. Dates of the trip are Dec. 5 to Dec. 7. The Active Member Price is $485 per person double occupancy and the Non-Active Member Price is $499 per person double occupancy. The deposit amount is $50 per person. Join us Monday, May 22, at 1 p.m. for Game Day. On Wednesday, May 24, at 1 p.m., we will be having a $5 Auction with Linda Roys and Carol Peebles. Come bid on fun items that are wrapped, which you have no idea what it is. If you join us for the auction, please bring a gift, pre-wrapped valued at $5. Looking Ahead: Join us on Wednesday, May 31, at 1 p.m. as we celebrate the 2017 Springfield Senior Center “Senior of the Year.” This year’s Senior of the Year will be crowned at this celebration as we enjoy light refreshments and the wonderful company of everyone.
