Police: Fake cop targeted Springfield teen

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. -
Police in Springfield are investigating a report of a man pretending to be a cop.
A teenage girl told police that Wednesday evening, a suspicious man approached her on South Street, flashed an ID that said Springfield Police Department and told her he was an undercover officer. She said he asked her to prove she wasn't carrying any drugs and then got into a car and drove away.
He's described as a white man in his 30s with short curly black hair and a raspy voice, about 6 foot 1, thin and clean shaven. He was driving a black or brown Subaru station wagon with tinted windows and Vermont plates.
Police say this man is not a Springfield officer.
