2017-07-05 / Springfield Preservation Society offers children’s reading program SPRINGFIELD — The North School Preservation Society will host a free, four-week reading program from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. every other Wednesday, beginning July 12, at the Warming Hut on the North Springfield School grounds, 49 Main St., North Springfield. Entrance to the school is on lower School St. The program will feature reading a different book each session with games, with crafts and / or a science project that coincides with the theme of the book. Themes will be "Float or Sink" on July 12; "American Indians" on July 26; "Knights, Kings, Queens and Castles" on Aug. 9, and "Pirates" on Aug. 23. The books are geared toward children in grades 1-4, but older children are welcome if they wish to take part. Due to space limitations, the number of children will be limited to 12.
