Union Street School dedicates pollinator garden to deceased former employee | November 12, 2017 Friends, family and school officials gather for the dedication of the Union Street School’s pollinator garden to Lynn Morin, a 30-year employee of the school district that has since passed away. — COURTESY SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Union Street School pollinator garden was dedicated to the late Lynn Morin on Thursday, Oct. 19. It was a beautiful, sunny fall day when friends and family gathered to witness the unveiling of two stones, one naming the garden after Morin, the other commemorating the ashes of a U.S. flag now buried there that had been retired in her honor. Morin was a loyal and hardworking employee of the Springfield School District for over 30 years. “We will always remember Lynn working side by side the students to bring their dream of this pollinator garden to fruition. It was just one example of how she went consistently above and beyond to support the teachers and students in our community,” the school district stated in a press release. “Lynn was an avid supporter of nature and animals, making the dedication of this garden even more meaningful. The garden has continued to flourish over the past four years, making the school playground more beautiful and educational. Springfield School District officials thanked maintenance staff for their preparation of the garden site, Bibens Ace Hardware Store for their donation of the bricks that border the garden, and the Wellborn Ecology Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation for their generous financial and technical support. “Last but certainly not least, we are grateful to the Springfield Garden Club for their extreme generosity of funds and countless hours of labor to ensure a garden we could all be proud of,” the school district added. “The Lynn Morin Memorial Pollinator Garden is a symbol of the great things that can happen when community comes together to achieve a shared goal.”
