2017-11-22 / Chester VTrans to offer info, hear any concerns on culvert replacements CHESTER and SPRINGFIELD — With upcoming culvert replacements on VT-11 in Chester and Springfield, the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) has organized a Regional Concerns Meeting for 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 at the Springfield Town Hall. The Regional Concerns Meeting on Replacement of three roadway culverts on VT 11 in Springfield – BF 0134(43, 45, 49), and replacement of one roadway culvert on VT 11 in Chester – BF 0134(50), will take place as part of a regularly scheduled meeting of the Springfield Selectboard. The preferred alternative for each location includes the replacement of the existing corrugated metal arch culverts with new buried structures. VTrans intends to maintain one lane for traffic in each direction during the work. Bridge 57, near Breezy Hill Road will be replaced in 2018, and the rest in 2020 and 2021. The intent of the meeting is to provide an overview of this project to town officials, local residents and businesses, emergency services and other interested parties. The presentation will include a review of the existing site conditions, proposed work, maintenance of traffic, and overall schedule followed by a question and answer period. Representatives from VTrans will be available at the meeting to hear public concerns about the projects. A copy of the Scoping Report for this project may be seen at the office of the Town Clerk in Springfield or Chester, or at the Structures Section of the Agency of Transportation’s office in Montpelier, Vermont. An electronic copy is also available online at https://outside.vermont.gov/agency/vtrans/external/Projects/Structures/. Project names are 13c334, 13d336, 16b068, and 16b069.
