Springfield homeowner furious over sewage blockage incident

The resident whose Chester Road home suffered an incursion of sewage last week is accusing the town of not taking sufficient action against a nearby health center he believes is the ultimate cause of the blockage.

Sewer blockage floods Springfield house, prompts town action

A backed-up sewer line caused a house to be flooded last weekend, resulting in action Wednesday by the select board. The backup that caused the flood was allegedly the result of a sewer violation, according to town officials.

Stormwater catch-basins could soon be looking cleaner following the announcement Tuesday that the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation has awarded the town of Springfield a $375,000 Ecosystem Restoration Grant.

County Road culvert update


The town is proceeding with a long-term repair to the failed culvert on County Road. The goal is still to have the culvert repaired and County Road open by the end of the 2017 construction season.
