SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The 5th annual EdgarMay Thanksgiving Day 5K saw a record turnout with 172 registered participants. This annual event, organized by the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center starts and ends at Springfield Hospital. The event has grown each year with friends and families celebrating the start of the holiday in an active and healthy way. The top male finisher was George Deane of Waterbury, Vt. with a time of 17:40 and the top female finisher was Springfield’s own Ericka Schoff, who finished the 3.1 mile course in 23:16. Thanksgiving Over all winner, George Deane of Waterbury, Vt. Photo provided. The race also recognized the fastest participant under the age of 12, that award went to Henry Monahan, age 9. Monahan finished the race in 29:46. Thanksgiving Top female finisher, Ericka Schoff of Springfield, Vt. Photo provided. Other awards presented included the individual or family that traveled the furthest to participate in the race, that award went to Emily Hughes, her husband Andrew, and their children who traveled all the way from Malawi, Africa to participate. The best costume for the race went to Mason Sharrow.
