Grab some canned goods, a few friends, and bowl for hunger! On Sunday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m., Up Your Alley will be hosting Springfield’s first annual Bowling for Hunger Tournament. This event will be a great way to take your mind off the cold, keep your blood moving, and do a good deed for the community. Teams of four will compete on Springfield’s favorite bowling lanes to raise money for the Food Pantry at the Springfield Family Center. Highlights will include raffles, a 50/50, door prizes, and the joys of good-natured competition! Up Your Alley will also be collecting food items – especially canned tuna, chicken, or salmon; peanut butter; meals in a can like soup, stew, and chili; low-sodium canned vegetables; canned fruit in its own juice or water; olive or canola oil; spices (cinnamon, chili powder, cumin, salt-free spice blends); canned foods with pop-top lids; low-sugar whole grain cereals; and healthy snacks like granola bars, nuts, and dried fruit. Receive an additional raffle ticket for every item of food you donate! There is a cost to enter into the tournament. All proceeds benefit Springfield Food Pantry. Call Rob 802-885-5087 today to reserve your team spot and strike out hunger! Article written by Caitlin Christiana, Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce.
