2018-02-07 / Springfieldar May to hold February swim event for children SPRINGFIELD — Every month, the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center hosts a children’s event. The February event will take place just when area schools are breaking for vacation. Parents can bring their children to the Edgar May from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 for three hours of supervised fun. Besides swimming, the evening will include games, dinner and a movie. Recreational floats and water toys are allowed at this special event, so unpack the summer raft and get ready for some fun. This monthly event is geared toward children 6 and up, but if parents have younger children interested in participating, the center asks that parents or guardians remain on site with any child under the age of 6. Details about the movie are available on the center’s website or by visiting their Facebook page, or calling member services. Pre-registration and advanced payment is required. The center will provide up to three hours of supervised fun, pizza from The Subway restaurant for dinner, beverages, and a healthy snack at the end of the evening. Cost is $15 per child. Edgar May members can attend for half-price. Easy online registration is available, or call (802) 885-2568 or stop by the member services desk. Youth memberships are as low as $13 a month, and scholarships are available. Registration for youth swim lessons is also open, with next sessions beginning Saturday, Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 27. Additional info and current specials will be available on the Facebook page. The Edgar May Health and Recreation Center, a 503(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been promoting healthy lifestyles for children and adults throughout Southern Vermont and New Hampshire for 10 years.
