Gallery offers ‘Drawing and Painting with Grids’

The Galley at the VAULT, a nonprofit organization in Springfield, will offer a two-day workshop, “Drawing and Painting with Grids” with artist Christine Mix from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28 and May 5.

This is a workshop for beginners and those wanting to learn something new. Participants will draw on day one and paint on day two.

In the first session, participants will learn how to turn a photo into a drawing using the grid method.

Bring a color or black-and-white copy of a favorite photo (not the original, because class participants will need to draw on it) and learn how to reduce or enlarge the image onto watercolor paper using a simple scale ruler and pencil.

For the second session, Mix will give a brief introduction to watercolor techniques, and then everyone can paint their grid drawing.

A materials list will be provided at registration.

The instructor will have some supplies on hand for a suggested donation of $10. Cost is $80 members and $90 non-members for both Saturdays.

For more information, call or come into Gallery at the VAULT, 68 Main Street, Springfield, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

For information or to register, call (802) 885-7111, email galleryvault@vermontel.net or visit www.galleryvault.org.
