KMA Publications Inc. acquires The Message of the Week April 27, 2018 REGION – Robert Miller of KMA Publications Inc., owner and publisher of The Vermont Journal and The Shopper, announced Friday, April 27, 2018 that he has purchased The Message of the Week. The sale will merge the newspapers but continue to be published only under The Vermont Journal and The Shopper banners. The merger will also expand coverage, helping to strengthen local news and readership. The Message, as a separate entity, will cease publication immediately. For Miller, the purchase comes full circle, owning The Message, a paper that his parents Max and Odessa Miller had started with Bill and Joan Johnson in the early 1970s. “I feel like The Message is home again, back to where it started,” he said. Miller recalled feeling the same way when he purchased The Shopper back in 2009, acquiring another paper his parents had started years almost 57 years ago. “I grew up in the newspaper business working for my parents. I wanted to bring my parent’s early publications back into the fold.” All inquiries to The Message are now automatically being forwarded to The Vermont Journal and The Shopper office in Ludlow.
