  3. Give him a break....Wanted to make sure he was included in the 'Springfield Schools Alumni Parade'......most likely a past Valedectorian.

  4. This kids a junkie and high on something that day and that was commented by one of his family member! Hes been in the police log a few times, just the other day for stealing stuff from the local convenience store. He wanted to push the public nudity law. I thought it was funny at first when I thought it was a kid streaking through town as a dare, but he kept doing it over and over and even pausing for some people who were video taping him as he "helicoptered" his junk as they laughed and took video. I know of a few fathers of little kids who had to see this and they were not happy. Hes lucky one of them didnt kick his naked butt! This kid is just another one of the problems with this town. We cant go anywhere in this town anymore without seeing someones "junk" flapping in the wind or someone ODing in McDonalds. Cant go for walks much without seeing dirty needles throw on the ground. Its sickening.

    1. Do you have any proof of that, or are you just a malcontented wingnut on a rampage? I've lived here for four years and have never seen any of the things you've described. One naked idiot doesn't make a crime wave!

  5. Well you must be living under a rock! Go listen in on the police scanner for a few hours or read their blog page. There was an OD inside McDonalds recently, I heard it on the scanner. My daughter found a dirty needle by the walking path just a few weeks ago. Open your eyes

    2. The fact that you listen to the police scanner in a town this small is pretty disturbing; YOU'RE PARANOID, GET A LIFE! One needle on a bike path, or one OD at McD's isn't good, but as with one naked man, does not constitute a crime wave! I've read the police blotter, most of it is incidents like "woman complains neighbor's dog is eating her chickens," or "kids riding mini-bikes down street!" You and your kind would have everyone believe this town is a crime infested ghetto, when it isn't. The crime rate here is WAY lower than most places, including most of the "conservative" areas that I've lived in. I grew up in the heartland of Establishment Old Money Conservatism, the second wealthiest area in the U.S., and the crime rate there is staggering! Drugs everywhere! This town needs work, but it's a far cry from the south side of Chicago, or the slums of NYC, or any other urban area! Stop exaggerating, and help the rest of us improve it!

    3. I never said this town was a "crime infested ghetto". And by the way, I listen in on the police scanner because I run my own blog page like this one that report things that are going on in this town, good and bad. I do not know what "police blotter" you read but its obviously not the same as the actual police blog page, which lists all the arrests and none of those nonsense calls like you said. I know what I hear and just because you don't "see" it yourself, doesn't mean it isn't happening. None of these incidences are reported unless there is a crime taking place but there is an OD being reported over the police scanner almost every day. Needles are found a few times a week, if not more. I never said this town was like any of the major cities so YOU can stop exaggerating. Wake up, look past those rose colored glasses you wear and see what this town is becoming. Its still a nice beautiful town and it can be saved but people need to start seeing whats going on around here and stop ignoring it because it will only continue to get worse.
"Stop exaggerating, and help the rest of us improve it!"
So tell me, what are YOU doing to help "improve" this town?

    4. Oh, don't quibble over words. Anybody who read what you said would come to the same conclusion I did. You say you're trying to shock people into action? The problem is that people thinking of moving here ACTUALLY READ THIS BLOG! I did. I was able to look past the conservative griping, as such. Many people who would benefit this town won't; they'll read what you say and move somewhere else. What have I done to improve things here? I moved here, and raised the aggregate IQ significantly just by doing it. (Ha Ha) I bought a death-trap, rodent-infested house and renovated it. I helped run a dope dealer out of my neighboorhood, since no one else had the guts to confront them except their absentee landlord. I don't drink, do drugs, and I'm not on welfare, either. Whenever I can, I offer solutions to the problems here to anybody who will listen, based on decades of education and experience. That's the biggest problem I have; being dismissed by conservatives who care more about power politics than solving problems! It's one thing to complain (and sometimes I do) but that's not enough. This town CAN be a great place to live, but without fresh ideas and elbow grease, it'll never happen. If ALL you do is complain, (like many around here do) you're holding this town back!

    5. Do you really think my comment is going to keep people from moving here? I highly doubt that. I really do not have that much influence on strangers.
This all started because of some junkie running nude through town, dont you think out of state people who are thinking of moving here are going to see that and make their own conclusions about this town? Its not me and my comment.
I am glad to hear you came here and did something good. I love hearing stories like yours and there should be more. I am not bashing you for trying to stay positive but your bashing me for telling the truth and not hiding behind it.
Hey, I am not here to argue with you or tell you that you are wrong. I just stated an opinion, an observation and some things that I know is going on here. I run a blog myself, I have all kinds of things that I post about the town, both good and bad. Sometimes you have to take the bad in order to take the good.
Thank you for the conversation, I respect your opinions and thoughts. Enjoy your day.

How about a link to the "other blog"? It might help evaluate otherwise anonymous perspective & opinion.

  6. I think it's a shame that some track coach hasn't enlisted this young man into some serious guidance for track. He looks like a long distance runner and could bring pride to himself and Springfield. Looking at that video one can see that this is what he is meant to be. He is built for it. Effortless running. Great stride. Isn't there someone who can steer him in the right direction? I hope there is someone out there that will not let this plea fall on deft ears. Please someone get him into a program. I see Olympics written all over him.
