Christine Hallquist to meet with voters in Chester

Christine Hallquist, Democratic candidate for governor, will appear in Chester, Vt. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 at the Chester Town Hall, second floor, at 6:30 p.m. This event is presented by the Chester Town Democratic Committee and the Springfield Town Democratic Committee.

All are invited to attend to meet and speak with Hallquist. After she makes her presentation, she will take questions from the attendees.

The evening function will allow Vermont residents and voters to learn more about the issues of importance to Christine Hallquist and to all of us Vermonters as she works hard to win the support of the electorate in her campaign for governor, including matters on our economy, health care, opiates, education, civil rights, the environment, the workforce, families, and transportation.

For further information, contact Bill Dakin, 802-875-3456, or Char Osterlund, 802-885-5115.

  1. In other news, Hallquist auditions for the role of Klinger for a MASH sequel.

    1. It would be interesting to know why you chose to make that comment while hiding under the "Anonymous" curtain.

    2. Maybe you should worry about yourself instead of making fun of people.
You must not have listened to your mother

  2. I am impressed with her knowledge of the topics and her ability to articulate solutions. I lot of people need to grow up and move away from the hate filled comments.

  3. It's not hate, it's common sense. Anyone who is confused about their sexuality is MENTALLY ILL.

  4. The instability of this confused, mentally ill candidate should be of grave concern. Such mental illness is manifested by the approximate 40% suicide rate of transvestites. Is this an honorable role model or a death pool candidate? Legitimate question.

    1. The report you cite finds "Gender-based victimization, discrimination, bullying, violence, being rejected by the family, friends, and community; harassment by intimate partner, family members, police and public; discrimination and ill treatment at health-care system are the major risk factors that influence the suicidal behavior among transgender persons."

It does not report or refer to transgender people as either mentally ill because of their identity, or confused. The report is, as you label it, critical - but not of transgender people.

The report does not use the word transvestite that you used, which means something else altogether.

This candidate worked her way up through the corporate ranks until she was judged CEO material and hired by a nearly bankrupt electric co-op, which she brought to an S&P A++ rating in eight years. She also displayed a lack of typical CEO greed by decreeing "No pay increases for management until the workers have gotten their increases." Her utility was recognized by the US government as one of the five most innovative in the US. She is also, amazingly enough, pro-union, having learned in Indiana that the plant her team was building wanted to have the union involved from the very start because, as the team leader explained to her, "They know how to set things up so everything works."

She was also moderator for her Vermont town for a number of years. And if you don't think she won't stand up for Vermont women, you should hear her tell how her attitude changed the first time a guy said to her, "Smile, sweetie."

Her town stands by her, as does her family. You might be interested in a documentary about her, "Denial."

I would have a real problem voting for any candidate recommended by a voter who displays the judgment of 12:39, 9:29 or 12:19.

WHOA, 1:47!!!!!! Somebody had to be sexist. I'm not saying that you are; I'll let you judge for yourself. Are you saying a woman couldn't have done those things? So, you'll be voting Republican?

Another thing about women who can do good things-- they're spooky. Did you ever notice how the eyes in the official portrait of Governor Madeline Kunin follow you around the room? Another good reason to vote Republican.

    3. Actually, in this case, I think that matters. Kind of hard to say that you "broke the glass ceiling" when at the time, it didn't apply!

      Delete
    4. She hasn't made a claim she broke the glass ceiling. Unless she has had a brain transplant, I believe she is still motivated by the values she formed over her years as a CEO, active member in her community, and a parent.

Add to that the fact that her community still regards her just as highly now as then, and I think we're looking the genuine article, unlike Don Turner of Milton, who just now has come out in favor of legalization of marijuana because he's running for Lt. Governor. (But that's beside the point.)

    5. Chuck, im a Democrat. Im just wondering if you would defend Halliquist if they were a Republican?

    6. Nothing sexist about stating facts about the timeline of said accolades. But seriously who paints with a broader brush as far as generalizing a group as republicans or democrat. Your us vs. Them mentality is whats costing the democrats seats in the house senate and so forth. We as americans need to see each other as people and not opponents. Im sorry but halquists feel good platform will cripple if not destroy vermonters from the carbon tax she backs that would make home heating untenable to the proposed 15 an hr min wage that would completely destroy all small ma and pa shops. Voting for a candidate to simply say you were part of history is a terrible idea

I will defend anyone who is attacked for what they are, unless what they are is the new breed of Republican.

    8. Chuck, So you are defending Christine Hallquist for being Christine? Christine is not Christine, Christine is hiding from some thing because Christine Hallquist is really Dave Hallquist A MAN dressing and acting as a woman, why would we want someone who does not know who they are running our state! All of his successes came before he became a pretend woman 3 years ago.

Roger, when you go in to vote, be sure to check your med levels first.

  6. According to the APA, transgender is not an illness.

    1. Nor is pedophilia, necrophilia, and exhibitionism. At least in your world.

What The American Psychiatric Association really says about sexual disorders.

    2. The article you link does not seem to support your statement, Anonymous 3:51. It lists no connection to the APA. It is a brief introduction to the topic of paraphilias, with short descriptions of pedophilia, exhibitionism, fetishism and other disorders. It clearly supports punishment and continued monitoring for those who harm others, but also treatment.

According to Republicans, transgender is an illness. They hold to this despite the dictum from one of their very own, "You're entitled to your own opinion, but you're not entitled to your own facts."

Just a thought: How come nobody beat up on GOP candidate Karen Kerin when she ran for governor about 15 years ago?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Kerin never won a race, losing three times in Republican primaries and twice in the general election.

      Delete
    2. I guess those primary defeats could be considered as rejections by GOP voters and the general election losses would have to be viewed as a rejection by voters from both parties. I hope that answers Chuck's question.

Losing five elections is no reason for Karen Kerin not to get beaten up by wingnuts the way Hellquist is. Where were all of those commenters when Kerin was running? I never saw even one letter to the editor trashing her.

Didn't the Democrats realize that fair's fair and that they now had their turn?

Or is this just a GOP wingnut thing?
