Roundup: Cosmos, Wasps cruise in football Staff Reports Oct 5, 2018 0 SPRINGFIELD — Jake Steppler scored three first-half touchdowns as Springfield rolled to a 40-24 win over Oxbow on Friday night at Brown Field. Steppler scored on a run from the 3 in the first quarter. Then in the second quarter he was trapped in the backfield but reversed his field and ran 33 yards for another score. Oxbow countered with a long play from Cooper Simmons to Hunter Locke. The pass was first tipped by a Cosmos defender but Locke kept his concentration on a play that covered 53 yards. Oxbow also scored on an interception of 68 yards by Kevin Ricker. Springfield got to the .500 mark at 3-3 while Oxbow dipped to 1-5. Windsor comes to Springfield on Friday night for the final home game while the O’s have two home games to wrap up the season, hosting Poultney and Missisquoi. The O’s were still very much in the game at the half, trailing 23-12.
