Wow, What a Year for VINE Animal Sanctuary

From the donors who stepped up to help us buy a new tractor and build a new satellite site to the volunteers who stepped up to staff events or tackle on-site projects, our extended community made it possible for VINE to organize or participate in more than 60 events all the while taking care of more than 600 animals!

Annual Holiday Open House at VINE Sanctuary

The staff of VINE animal sanctuary will be opening their holiday party to the members of their extended community of volunteers, donors, boosters, and other friends of the sanctuary. It happens this Thursday, December 27th from 12 PM – 3 PM.

Several food sources that wildlife eat in the fall, such as acorns, beechnuts and apples, are not as abundant this year, according to the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department in Springfield.

Wellwood Orchards baby goat yoga and upcoming Customer Appreciation Day

On Sunday, Aug. 26, yogis gathered on a sunny, warm morning at Wellwood Orchards for a restorative Vinyasa flow, complete with baby goats. The five baby goats were born in early July and had made weekly appearances in the yoga class since they were a couple weeks old.

Over 200 rescued fighting roosters placed in forever homes

Officials at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say that more than 200 of the 432 birds rescued by police from an illegal Northhampton cockfighting ring in May have been placed in permanent, safe homes. 136 of the roosters, hens and chicks have been relocated in Springfield, Vt.

Taking a pet home for a weekend stay

Millie, a nine-year-old female long-haired tabby cat, responded to being left at the shelter by refusing to eat. Shelter workers are worried she may not adjust to the stress of abandonment.
