BURLINGTON — What’s new in New England food was on display last week at the Burlington Sheraton courtesy of a culinary exposition by North Springfield’s Black River Produce.
Organic and healthy growing trends like protein bars and fresh-squeezed juice while the old-fashioned — locally-made cheeses and fresh-caught seafood — made a big presence at the show, attended by hundreds of guests and about 80 vendors from across Vermont and New England.
Then, there was the rare, like farm-raised red deer venison from Hollander Farm in Holland and gluten-free, certified-humane pudding varieties from Echo Farm in Hinsdale, N.H. and sweet yet smooth quince butter from Sidehill Farm in Brattleboro.
