Motorcyclist dies after crash in North Springfield

A 20 year old Ludlow man died from injuries he sustained this afternoon from a motorcycle - truck accident at the intersection of County Road and Rte 10 in North Springfield.




On this date, May 1, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. Springfield Police and EMS personnel responded to a report of a motorcycle versus truck accident near the intersection of County Road and Route 10 in North Springfield. The truck was a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. The operator of the motorcycle, 20 year old Warren Lewis of Ludlow was operating an 1985 Yamaha motorcycle. Both operators were transported to the hospital due to injuries. Lewis was later pronounced deceased from injuries sustained from the impact. Lewis was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. This accident remains under investigation at this time. Anyone that has not already been spoken with, that witnessed the accident, is asked to contact Cpl. Michael Gilderdale at 802-885-2113.

LUDLOW — Warren Lee Lewis, 19, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Springfield Hospital.

Lewis was born in Rutland on Oct. 16, 1994. He grew up in Ludlow where he received his early education and had attended Black River High School.

He had worked for Winter Place on Okemo Mountain in the winter. He logged in summer months. He had also worked as a carpenter’s helper for Josselyn Brothers in Ludlow.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed snowboarding and skateboarding, and had ridden with Southwestern Freedom Riders of Vermont motorcycle club.

Surviving is his parents. Elizabeth and Gus Ayer of Ludlow; two sisters, Amy Lewis of Rutland and Amber Euber of Ludlow; his brother, Brian Lewis, Jr. of North Clarendon; his grandparents, Allen and Patti Ayer of Brandon and Marit and Lee Lewis of Rutland; and his biological father, Brian Lewis Sr. of Springfield. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Warren and Evelyn Euber.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at the Forestdale Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Samuel Morse of Farmington, Maine, will officiate. Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post #55.

A private burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery in Leicester.

Friends may call at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon on Monday, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity organization for the community called Southwest Freedom Riders, P.O. Box 735, Rutland, VT 05702.

  5. Warren touched the hearts of many people and on this day four years ago he entered heaven and rests in peace with the grace of God. Amen.
