Petco Foundation awards grant to humane society
SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Humane Society (SHS) has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its construction of a new community room.
The Springfield Humane Society is a nonprofit organization that has been working to improve the quality of life for animals by providing protection, compassionate care, and adoption services for homeless animals since 1941. The humane society rescues and relocates approximately 400 animals per year, holds low cost spay/neuter clinics for the public, responds to cruelty calls in the 11 towns it services, and hosts educational talks for both school children and adults.
The Petco Foundation investment will help SHS expand their dedicated service through the continuation of low cost spay/neuter clinics, low cost vaccination clinics, dog obedience classes and formal educational offerings.
“I am so very pleased and grateful to receive this grant from Petco, which will help us help the many animals and people in our service area. Petco has always been there for us, and their support will help us be there for those who need us,” said Anne Eddy, executive director of the humane society.
