Published July 25, 2014 in the Rutland Herald Suspect arrested in connection to Springfield shooting By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — One of the suspects connected to the shooting that took place in Springfield in June was arrested again Wednesday following a three-hour-long foot chase with police that ended with his capture on the golf course in Weathersfield. Alexander Jillson-Corbosiero, 18, was ordered held for lack of $1,000 bail Thursday afternoon after he pleaded innocent to two misdemeanor counts of violating his court-ordered conditions of pre-trial release and a felony count of possession of marijuana. Jillson-Corbosiero is awaiting trial on charges that he stole the .45 caliber handgun that another man used to a shoot a teenage drug dealer on June 11. Weathersfield Police Chief Bill Daniels wrote in his affidavit that he was actually looking to arrest Weathersfield resident Orion Pfenning because of an outstanding warrant when shortly before noon he spotted a tan car with a teenage girl sitting behind the wheel parked in front of the trailer where Pfenning lives on Weathersfield Center Road. Daniels said as he got out of his cruiser, Jillson-Corbosiero came walking around from behind the trailer carrying a backpack. “I asked him if he was Orion Pfenning,” Daniels wrote. Jillson-Corbosiero gave his name and then walked to the waiting car and quickly dumped out the contents of the backpack onto the floor in the backseat before getting back out with the empty pack and walking quickly toward the front of the trailer, the chief wrote. Jillson-Corbosiero “appeared to be very nervous ... sweating and breathing rather rapidly,” the chief said, noting that when he asked the young man why he was acting so strangely, Jillson-Corbosiero replied, “I am on conditions,” imposed by the court. “I then asked about the strong odor of marijuana that was coming from the general area,” Daniels wrote, to which Jillson-Corbosiero said there was a pot plant behind the residence. Daniels said he began speaking to the 17-year-old girl who was driving the car. When he asked her what was going on, she said her car hadn’t smelled like marijuana until moments before, when Jillson-Corbosiero got into the back. “While I was speaking to (her), Alexander took off on foot (into the woods) behind the residence,” the chief wrote. Jillson-Corbosiero left his shoes behind in the driveway. Police from several agencies converged on the scene and conducted an extensive search of area roads before running Corbosiero down in a wooded section of the golf course around 3:30 p.m. and taking him into custody without further incident. Daniels said the young woman driving gave them permission to search her backseat, where they found a plastic bag full of marijuana that appeared to have been freshly cut from the plant behind the residence. “It was stripped from the main root with all the buds, leaves and stems still attached,” Daniels wrote. Jillson-Corbiosiero was just arrested two weeks ago and charged with two counts of violating release conditions and for misdemeanor possession of marijuana after Springfield Police said they found him sitting in front of the Woolson Block downtown in the middle of the day. His conditions state that he is supposed to observe a 24-hour curfew at his mother’s residence while his cases are pending and only leave for medical and legal appointments and that he is to carry written proof detailing those appointments when he travels to and from them.
Caught stealing pot, now that is a real crime .
ReplyDeleteGee, do I have a great crystal ball or what? I predicted nearly three weeks ago on this forum when it was announced that this suspect was being released "on conditions" that his mother would no more be able to control him than the authorities. I think I could make big bucks being a tarrot card reader!
ReplyDeleteWill someone please keep thus jerk in jail. No bail.
ReplyDeleteThis kid clearly has no fear. He has no respect for authority and he is beginning to realize that no matter what he does, he will be set free. This is a great way to start off your life kid (sarcasm meant). Your future looks dark and you will probably (hopefully) spend the majority of your life in jail (but let's face it, he will always go free until he kills someone). Sad, sad state of affairs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a rascal! Surely, judge, he meant no harm! Why not let him go yet again?
ReplyDelete$1000.00 bail, I wonder if Judge Carroll posted it for him
ReplyDeleteLiving proof that REEFER MADNESS can happen to even you !!
ReplyDeleteThe poor kid became CRAZY from the evil weed causing him to run across golf courses and thru the woods. He could have twisted an ankle on the 16 hole or got bug bit by the VT state bird and contracted West Nile or something. Hey don't bogart that and pass it over this way :-)
