The Otters got a clutch two-hitter from Hannah Williams and the Otters hung a 7-1 upset on Division II rival Springfield in Marble Valley League softball Friday. “This is a big win, not only for Hannah but for all the kids,” said coach Pattie Candon. Williams allowed two little singles and pitched out of two bases-loaded jams as OV, whose pitching has stugggled this year, improved to 5-9 with games left a Leland & Gray and Mill River. Springfield, ranked second in D-II coming in, fell to 9-3. While walking seven, Williams struck out eight, including one in a tough spot with the bases loaded. Jade Twombly, who pitched into the fifth inning, took the loss for Springfield. Jenna Elliot spanked a triple and a single and drove in two runs for the Otters while Laura Beth Roberts ripped a pair of doubles. Allyssa Lucius had a single and an RBI and Lina Geyer also hit safely for the Cosmos.
