Springfield Hospital receives grant for Child Birth Center

Springfield Hospital has received $25,000 from the Charles R. Wood Foundation to replace ultrasound equipment in its Child Birth Center.

The Center is one of the few remaining birthing options in the region. Approximately 200 mothers give birth at the Center, which is comprised of two labor and delivery rooms and three post-partum rooms.

Ultrasound equipment plays an important role in the management of labor and delivery. Its use is of crucial importance for maternal and fetal health.

“This grant helps us ensure The Child Birth Center is up-to-date with current technology,” states Tonia Fleming, Development Associate at Springfield Hospital. “We want to have the best equipment and care possible for our moms.”

The Charles R. Wood Foundation was founded in 1978 and invests in children, healthcare and the arts in New York State and Vermont. Springfield Hospital is a nonprofit critical access hospital that is part of Springfield Medical Care Systems, an integrated network of care with eight Community Health Center locations, serving communities in southeastern Vermont and southwestern New Hampshire.
