The Board of Directors of the Springfield-based Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center announced that Robert Crego was named Southern Vermont AHEC’s executive director, succeeding Marty Hammond upon her retirement at the end of October 2018.

An introductory workshop about crystal and stone healing and wisdom will be offered Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at 368 River St., Suite 110, Springfield, Vt. $25,000 Coverys grant supports pharmacist at SMCS Rapid Access Clinic


Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation in Boston recently awarded a $25,000 grant to Springfield Medical Care Systems (SMCS). The grant supports an innovative new concept to include pharmacist consultation services as a component of its Rapid Access Clinic.

Health Center launches Mamava Lactation Pod

Springfield Medical Care Systems, MVP Healthcare, Mamava, and Konrad Prefab came together Wednesday, Aug. 15 for the ribbon cutting of the first Mamava Lactation Pod in Springfield. Springfield Health Center is the first federally qualified health center in Vermont to open a lactation pod.

The gift of mother’s milk


Ashley Bielarski’s baby is 2 years old, but Bielarski still pumps breastmilk every day. Bielarski, 32, works 12-hour shifts as a nurse at Springfield Hospital. She pumps milk during her lunch hour. She freezes whatever her baby doesn’t need and then donates it.
