Wellness workshops at Edgar May

When the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center decided to create an entire department focused around healthy living, we had a general strategy to help our community be healthier. This four step process includes: why, learn, apply, and thrive. This seemingly simple four step process would help create the roadmap one might follow on their own wellness journey to discover their best self.

Families in southern Vermont have been busy participating in the second Annual Edgar May Health and Recreation Center summer scavenger hunt. The eight-week-long promotion is entering its fifth week.

Selectboard rejects petition to reverse 2002 rec center vote

The Springfield Selectboard has unanimously rejected a citizen petition to add an article to the 2017 town meeting that would reverse a 2002 vote related to funding the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center and return those funds to the town.

Rec center to celebrate 10 years with open house

In recognition of 10 years of promoting good health in the Springfield community, the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center will host an Open House on Saturday, Jan. 7, with free activities all day. The center will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Jan. 1, 2017.

Edgar May was remembered Sunday for his passion and compassion, whether it was exuberant yodeling on a ski lift at Magic Mountain, or his determination to help people who didn’t have a voice.

A Celebration of the Life of Edgar May

More than 150 friends, family and fans of Edgar May gathered poolside today to pay tribute in the recreation center named for him.

Edgar May in Paris, 1968, where for two years he was special assistant to the U.S. Ambassador to France, Sargent Shriver.

Edgar May, Pulitzer winner for The Buffalo News, dies in Arizona

Edgar May, who won a Pulitzer Prize for a series of stories on welfare for The Buffalo Evening News in 1960, died Thursday in Tucson, Ariz., where he had a winter home.

Friends and family yesterday recalled former state Sen. Edgar May, D-Springfield, as a dedicated public servant and a champion for the disadvantaged.
