The Springfield Town Library presents a program on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. for viewing and discussion of the film Resilience.
Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope is the 2016 documentary about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study.
The ACE study was conducted by the CDC and Kaiser-Permanente from 1995-1997. At the time, the questions asked in the study about some childhood experiences were controversial. Now ACEs are known to be one of the leading causes of everything from cancer, diabetes, addiction, and depression. Results of the ACE study have led to a change in the way health and social problems are considered. The question has switched from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” advertisement
The film will be presented by Ellen Taetzsch, Northern Windsor and Orange and Springfield Area Regional Coordinator for Building Bright Futures an organization based in Williston, Vermont. This event is free, accessible to those with disabilities, and open to the public. The Springfield Town Library is located at 43 Main Street, Springfield, Vermont.
