Allens spark Otter to win over Cosmos
BRANDON — Tyler Allen pitched the victory and then saved his own effort, and Dan Allen swatted a two-run double to pace Otter Valley to a 5-3 victory over Springfield in Marble Valley League baseball on Tuesday.
The Otters got the go-ahead run when Colby McKay made it 3-2 in the fourth with a run-scoring groundout. OV went ahead 5-2 in the fifth when Dan Allen doubled with two outs.
“We haven’t had one of those big run-scoring hits in awhile,” said OV coach Mike Howe of his sophomore. “He’s really been swinging the hot bat right now and is swinging at good pitches. He’s been our leader in the last four or five games.”
Kyle Weeks led the 4-7 Cosmos with two hits, one a solo home run in the seventh.
Matt Lachapelle took the loss for Springfield.
Tyler Allen spaced six hits and struck out six in six innings. He left the game but re-entered in the seventh when the Cosmos rallied and recorded the last out with the bases loaded.
The Otters are 2-8 and will host Hartford Wednesday.
