2017-06-16 / Sports Honor Flight New England Golf Tournament set for Aug. 5 SPRINGFIELD — The first annual Ron Walker Memorial Honor Flight Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 5 at Crown Point Country Club in Springfield. Registration opens at noon, followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The tournament is a 4-person scramble, 18 holes. The cost is $100 per person, which includes green fees, a cart and a steak dinner catered by Rt. 106 North Market and Deli that will follow at Chester American Legion Post 67 in Chester. If you wish to only attend the dinner, the cost is $35 per person and $65 per couple. The hole-in-one prize will be a brand new car offered by Kelly Chrysler. There will be other door prizes as well. All monies raised will benefit Honor Flight New England, based out of Hookset, New Hampshire. Honor Flight New England is a non-profit organization that pays to send WWII Veterans and Korean War Veterans to Washington, D.C. for the day at no expense to the veteran. The program is done as a way of paying tribute to the veterans and thanking them for the many sacrifices each of them has made. The veteran is driven to their respective war memorial in D.C. at the conclusion of the trip. Lt.
