Each year the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary sponsor junior high school students to attend Green Mountain Boys State and Green Mountain Girls State, where they learn the workings of government, holding town meetings, presenting bills, undertake the running for various offices and get a chance to visit the Vermont state capital and the Governor of Vermont. American Legion Post 18 is proud to be able to help send these young citizens on a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Many thanks goes to Chester Post 67 American Legion Auxiliary for their considerable financial assistance in help send three young ladies to Green Mountain Girls State. Eva Harris, Theo Avent and Druien Mattoon were not available at the time for this picture who also attended Green Mountain Girls State and Boys State.
