Christopher Shaban SPRINGFIELD- Only leading 3-0 after two innings, Windsor exploded for seven runs in the third, six in the fourth, and seven more in the fifth for a commanding road-win over Springfield on Monday, 23-1. Windsor got their scoring started Monday in the first inning when Robert Slocum drove in two with a single. This would be the first of twelve hits on the day for the Yellow Jackets as they cruised to victory over the Cosmos. On offense for Windsor, Slocum went 2-4 with 4 RBIs. Ryland Richardson went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs-scored. Seth Balch had a hit, 2 RBIs and 3 runs-scored. Dakota Page was 2-5 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs-scored. Justin Smith was 2-2 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs-scored. On his offense Monday, Windsor head coach, Jamie Richardson, said, “We had five guys with multiple hits, so I’m hoping our bats will start to heat up again.” On the mound, Seth Balch pitched a gem for the Yellow Jackets, throwing four innings, striking out ten, and allowing two hits and a walk. On Balch’s pitching Monday, Jamie Richardson said, “Seth threw the ball well again today. He had good command and had a little extra pop at times.” Adam Stapleton came in for the save, pitching one inning, striking out one, and not allowing a hit. For Springfield, Matt Veysey went 2-2 for the Cosmos’ only two hits. With the win, Windsor improves to 10-4 and travels to Mill River on Wednesday. Springfield falls to 2-11 and will travel to Bellows Falls for a matchup with the Terriers on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Sports Kameron Towle Sports Editor
