The 5th annual Springfield Lions Club Fishing Tournament will take place Sunday, Sept. 9 at Hoyt’s Landing on Route 5 along the Connecticut River in Springfield. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. There is a registration fee, but children 12 and under are free.
First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. for bass, pike, and perch live catch and release. There will be a random door prize drawing. For more information, email springfieldvermontlions@gmail.com or call Patrick Ankuda at 802-885-2582.
Founded in 1937, the Springfield Lions Club is celebrating 81 years of community service. Lions Club International, founded in 1917, is the largest philanthropic service organization in the world. The Springfield Lions Club has dedicated services to recycling eye glasses, providing eye exams and eyeglasses for those in need, sending campers to the Green Mountain Lions Camp for the deaf and hearing impaired, and spotting vision screenings for local area school children among other community services.
