Local seniors and volunteers honored


Senior Solutions, The Council on Aging for Southeastern Vermont, held their annual meeting last Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Springfield. Successful Aging awards were presented to the following eight area seniors.

Mara Contro of Chester, Dawn Bower and Ernie Friedli of Windham, Edgar DuBois of Putney, Ginny Ferguson and Thomas MacPhee of Bellows Falls, Louise Dillon of Windsor and Peter Harrison of Westminster. Successful Aging Awards are based on nominees’ contributions to their communities.

The following senior companions were acknowledged: Elizabeth Cole, Dennis Newman, Sandra Peck, Howie Peterson, Jean Pineo, Roberta Streeter and Irene Therieau. Our new program Friendly Visitors acknowledged the following volunteers: Wendy Collins, Angus Davis, Peter Farrar, Patti Crimmin-Greenan, Ed Holtrop, Arnold Knowlton, Patty Macdonald, Melissa Mackenzie, Kent Phillips and Howard Putnam.
