Vt. woman to lead national group
SPRINGFIELD — Margaret Bingham of Springfield was elected National Director of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas on July 20 at the Catholic Daughters’ 54th Biennial National Convention in Omaha, Neb.
Bingham will supervise Catholic Daughters activities in several states and work with the national board to administer Catholic Daughters activities and implement policy.
She became a Catholic Daughter in Nov. 1981 and is a member of Court St. Anne No. 1069 in Springfield. The court is affiliated with Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish of Springfield, where Bingham currently worships.
She has also served local court positions including treasurer and regent. Vermont state positions include District Deputy, State Regent, First Vice State Regent and Second Vice State Regent and National Director from 2004-2008.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. Formed in 1903, there are 75,000 dues-paying members in 1,250 local chapters in 45 states across the country, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
